Philip Joudrey, M.Div., D.Min. Principal Holding degrees from Acadia and Boston, in theological and pastoral counseling disciplines, Dr. Joudrey brings a unique perspective to the task of theological education for the 21st century. He says: “My personal journey has allowed me to experience the joy and the challenges of ministry with congregations in traditional settings but also with those who have been as a congregation for me in other contexts including prisons, psychiatric facilities and a university teaching hospital. It has also given me an opportunity to ask the hard questions of ethics and pastoral identity, of healing and the intersection of spiritual and psychological and pastoral care. All of this has somehow enhanced both the challenge and the opportunities before me as Principal here at UTC.”
Elisabeth Jones, M. Div., Th.M Director of Studies With degrees from York and Birmingham Universities in England, the Vancouver School of Theology, as well as a nearly completed doctorate from the Université de Genève, Switzerland, Elisabeth brings an international and ecumenical educational perspective with her to the College. Elisabeth has served the United Church of Canada in both lay and ordained ministries over the past 20 years. “At UTC I have been graced with the privilege and responsibility to be both teacher and student, “Director” and disciple, in the context of theological formation for ministry with Christ’s church in this bruised and blessed world. Here I am able to integrate my academic disciplines Church history and the history of biblical interpretation with the current realities of church and world.”
Angelika Piché, Mag. Theol., Dip. Min. Director of Continuing and Lay Education In addition to her theological studies in Germany (Munich) and the Montreal School of Theology, Angelika brings experience in the ecumenical / interfaith work and in congregational ministry. She describes her role at UTC in the following words: “I am a pilgrim alongside people inside and outside our church, lay, ordered and those who do not fit any categories. In French, in English and maybe in German I want to keep the conversation going about faith: where it comes from, what it means and where it may lead us. In a time, in which we are searching for words to express our beliefs and to reform communities of faith, I want to rediscover and recreate faith language with people of all stripes. I trust that God is leading us on our common pilgrimage towards theological understanding, hopeful vision and meaningful ministry for all who wish to be part of it.” ADJUNCT FACULTY & WORKSHOP LEADERS
